In an arena as large as the Amway Center, Sara Bareilles often finds a way to connect with her fans. Whether it’s through her relatable stories or her hilarious banter on stage, fans of all ages were able to find a connection to the stories of love and understanding. Appropriately named “Amidst the Chaos”, the stage was filled with music pages fluttering from the keys of her piano, until they all came together to create a heart levitating above the stage. As if it wasn’t clear already, these next few hours would be a celebration of unity and peace.

Sara poured out songs like “Eyes on You” and “I Choose You” from behind her piano, and her hit “Love Song” had the entire Amway Center singing along. The band, surrounding her piano in an intimate semi-circle, had just as much fun as the fans as they soulfully performed alongside her, often taking a solo for some time in the spotlight.

Sara shared with her fans the struggles of moving from Los Angeles to New York City in the middle of winter deeming it a “dipshit of an idea.” It was during this time of her life that she took on the most ambitious 4-year long project of her life, Waitress - a musical about Jenna who, like Sara, has a few struggles of her own and is ready for a change. Sara brilliantly set the stage for the song “She Used To Be Mine” and her fans quietly sang along from their seats.

Sara’s ability to communicate her message of love and peace resonated with the entire audience. The venue didn’t feel quite so large anymore, as fans shouted “We love you, Sara!” from both the higher and lower sections. We all left the venue feeling energized and rejuvenated. The impact of Sara’s performance will go much further than the walls of the Amway Center. Her message will continue to ring true amidst the chaos.
